Fourth annual Chair-ity event set for July 8

Mark your calendar now for the fourth annual Chair-ity Event fundraiser for the arts in Minerva on Saturday, July 8, at the Hart Mansion Restaurant, sponsored by the Minerva 20/20 Vision Committee.

The event will feature a silent auction of chairs and other pieces designed by area artists, student artwork for sale, hearty hors d'oeuvres, desserts, music and more.

A limited number of tickets will be available at a cost of $75 each. Sponsorships are also available for $200 each and include a ticket to the event.

Minerva/Malvern Salvation Army offers back to school help

Back to School help is available from the Salvation Army Minerva/Malvern Unit for children in the Minerva and Malvern school districts. Families that meet income guidelines may apply to receive backpacks full of school supplies for their child(ren) grades kindergarten through 8th.

Applications will be available at the Salvation Army office during the month of June on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.. The office is located in the Depot, 301 Valley Street in Minerva. Bring proof of residence and income. Call Cindy Beight, Back to School Coordinator, at 330-868-5808 with any questions. No sign ups will be accepted after June 30.

Minerva Area Historical Society to meet

Local businesses, individuals, and churches are encouraged to donate backpacks and/or school supplies or to adopt a child(ren) for the Back to School program. Call the office for a list of items that are needed. Monetary donations may be sent to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 74, Minerva, Ohio 44657.

The Minerva Area Historical Society will meet at the Minerva Library on June 26, 6:30 p.m. The speaker for the evening will be Shirley Whiteleather Fox discussing the history of Moultrie Ohio. Everyone is welcome.

Pleasant Grove UMC to host Bible performance

"Live Journey Production: An Eye-Witness Account" will be performed on Sunday, Oct. 15, at 3p.m. on the wooded grounds of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. Church members will dress in costume and portray characters from the Bible.

Come and experience a unique recreation of the Gospel message. Communion will be served in the Outdoor Chapel. Groups of any size are welcome. Donations are also welcome.

Haynam reunion set for June 25

The 59th annual combined Haynam reunion will be held Sunday June 25, at 1 p.m. at Metzger Park in Louisville. Note that the group will be in the smaller pavilion this year.
