SAITAMA, Japan (AP) -- Urawa Reds beat Sanfrecce Hiroshima 2-0 on Saturday to reduce Sanfrecce's lead in the J-League standings to just one point over Vegalta Sendai with two matches remaining.
Tsukasa Umesaki scored in the first half at Saitama Stadium and Keita Suzuki doubled the lead after the break as third place Urawa improved to 52 points.
Sanfrecce's loss, coupled with Vegalta's 3-3 draw with Kashima Antlers, saw Hiroshima remain on 58 points, one ahead of Sendai.
Sendai built up a 3-1 lead with two first-half goals by Shingo Akamine and another from Brazilian Wilson, but Shinzo Kuroki and Yuya Osako equalized in the second half for Kashima.
Sanfrecce is at home to Cerezo Osaka next weekend when Vegalta host relegation-threatened Albirex Niigata.
In other matches, defending champion Kashiwa Reysol beat Yokohama F Marinos 2-1, while Nagoya Grampus beat Jubilo Iwata 2-0. Kawasaki Frontale edged Albirex Niigata 1-0.
Ryo Okui scored his first goal of the seasonin the 26th minute as Vissel Kobe beat FC Tokyo 1-0. Shu Kurata scored a pair of goals to lead Gamba Osaka to a 3-1 win over Shimizu S-Pulse while Omiya Ardija beat Cerezo Osaka by the same score.
Kei Ikeda and Ryunosuke Noda scored in the second half as Sagan Tosu erased a 2-1 deficit for a 3-2 win over relegated Consadole Sapporo.
