COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- A Columbus running race celebrating its 10th anniversary this year has been selected as the site for the national half-marathon championships in 2016 and 2017.
The 13.1-mile race held each May starts and finishes downtown and sends runners along bike trails and historic city neighborhoods.
USA Track & Field organizes the annual national championship, which in Columbus will be run in conjunction with the Capital City Half Marathon. About 150 elite runners will compete.
Organizers of this year's Columbus race are predicting a sold-out field of 16,000.
Columbus hosted the U.S. Olympic marathon trials in 1992.
