CECIL, Ohio (AP) -- Authorities in northwest Ohio say one person was killed and 10 more were hurt in a pileup involving 10 tractor-trailers on a foggy highway near the Indiana-Ohio state line.
The State Highway Patrol says visibility was only about 100 feet when a pickup truck drove onto the highway at an intersection and was hit by a tractor-trailer on U.S. 24 Tuesday morning. Authorities say that set off a chain-reaction of crashes on the highway that links Toledo with Fort Wayne, Ind.
The patrol says none of the injuries were life-threatening.
A tanker truck caught up in the crash leaked ethanol along the highway.
A driver who was uninjured tells The Crescent-News in nearby Defiance that he "drove into a wall of fog."
