90th Birthday Surprise

Published:

Venone Borland, of Minerva, was pleasantly surprised, August 11th, by a visit from her youngest son and his family. Gayn & Lisa Borland, accompanied by their "unofficial" granddaughter, Alexis, drove from their home in Newport News, Virginia, to celebrate her 90th birthday. To keep it a surprise Gayn was in cahoots with Venone's eldest son, Gary, and his wife Mary Ann, of Alliance. "She didn't suspect a thing until I looked over her shoulder and asked her what she was looking at," said Gayn, "She thought she was dreaming."

The week long visit continued with Venone's birthday supper at the 356th Fighter Group Restaurant (www.356fg.com) at the Akron-Canton Airport. Sharing in the celebration with Venone, was her sister, Gladys Bellamy, of Mapleton, Gary and Mary Ann Borland, and Gayn, Lisa, and Alexis, age 3. As is usual, all good things come to an end, and the Virginia Borlands returned home on Saturday.
