An Observation

Published:

I've been wondering, when they paved the M.I.Day's front yard, did they actually realize the trees they cut down specifically one in mind, were in memory of children who went to the school and had passed on while they were there? One of my classmates passed away in the fifth grade in a tragic car accident. About a month later, we planted a small sapling in the front yard in his memory. Whenever I passed the school, I always looked at the tree which had grown bigger as the years passed and always remember my close friend. I now wonder how many other trees they took down in the front yard that were in some other child's memory from even before him. I feel as if they should do something to preserve these memories of these innocent children who never got to go to middle school, high school, and even graduate. It's just a shame that this has happened and no one has mentioned it.
