Jan. 20: Kick the Tobacco Habit will be presented by Sara Schaub, a tobacco cessation specialist, at Aultman North, 6-7:30 p.m. Anyone already having trouble with his New Year's resolution, is invited to learn tips and how participating in Aultman's free 6-week group program will make a person successful.
Jan. 21: TMJ will be presented by David Ash, DMD, oral & maxillofacial surgeon, at Aultman West, 6-7:30 p.m. Learn treatment options including surgery to find relief from this group of disorders affecting the jaw joint and chewing muscles.
Jan. 26: Women's Breast Health will be presented by Deb Mohr, RN, at North Canton Public Library, 1:30-3 p.m. Come learn how screenings, hormones, diet, lifestyle and stress all play a role in breast health at every age.
Jan. 28: Fibromyalgia will be presented by Mark Pellegrino, MD, physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist, at Aultman West, 6-7:30 p.m. Fibromyalgia is characterized by widespread muscles aches, sleep disorders and fatigue. Learn from a fibromyalgia sufferer ways to live with the debilitating condition.
Feb. 2: Wicked Winter Woes will be presented by Linda Brunk, CPN, at Stark County District Library, Main Building, 1:30-3 p.m. Learn prevention and treatment of winter-related health problems, such as the common cold, influenza, H1N1, fever and frostbite for children to seniors. Also learn about Aultman's traveling WOW program to educate groups on many topics.
Feb. 4: Shoulder Problems will be presented by H. Steven Coss, MD, orthopedic surgeon, at Aultman West, 6-7:30 p.m. Only about a third of reported shoulder pain is from an injury. Learn signs and symptoms of many conditions, diagnosis and treatment options, as well as when to seek care.
Feb. 8: Help for Vertigo Victims will be presented by Andy Beltz, PT, physical therapist, at Aultman North, 6-7:30 p.m. Learn common reasons dizziness occurs and how to accurately communicate the way it feels. Part one of a two-part series.
Feb. 10: Brand Name vs. Generic Drugs will be presented by Kristina Dawson, RPh, BCPS, pharmacist, at Aultman North, 6-7:30 p.m. Besides the cost, are generic drugs really different than brand names? Come learn this and other medication tips.
Feb. 11: 10 Easy Nutrition Tips will be presented by Suzanne Kim, RD, LD, at Aultman West, 6-7:30 p.m. Ignore fad diets and the ever-changing nutrition recommendations. Come learn the 10 fundamentals of nutrition that will never change and help people enjoy a healthier life.
Feb. 16: Diabetes Meal Planning will be presented by Marilyn Perdue, RD, certified diabetes educator, at Aultman West, 6-7:30 p.m. Learn tips for safely planning small meals to control weight and blood sugar levels.
Feb. 17: Oh My Aching Legs, Hips, Knees, Feet... will be presented by Thomas Watson, MD, orthopedic surgeon, at Aultman North, 6-7:30 p.m. Learn how to manage acute pain in the lower extremities.
Feb. 18: Compassionate Journey will be presented by Terry Livengood, MA, CT, lead chaplain, at Aultman West, 6-7:30 p.m. From diagnosis to death, end-of-life issues affect everyone. Learn tips for the dying patient and family to make it a compassionate journey.
Feb. 23: Healthy Approach to Lower Back Pain will be presented by Michelle McCann, DPT, MTC, physical therapist, at North Canton Public Library, 1:30-3 p.m. Four out of five adults will experience back pain. Learn how to protect the back from injury, decrease pain with physical therapy and cope with chronic pain.
