Minerva Board of Education Vice President Stanley Pennock, as well as Minerva's spelling bee winner and runner-up, were honored at the board of education's meeting held Feb. 13.

Ohio School Boards Association Northeast Regional Manager Reno Contipelli visited from Brooklyn Heights, Ohio, to present Pennock with a plaque featuring the State of Ohio for his 25 years of service as a board member.

"This is an incredible accomplishment out of the $3,500 board members in the state," said Contipelli. "This just shows the confidence the community has in you to serve them."

"I know of some board members who have been unhappy with where they are, but I have never felt that one time," said Pennock. "I am honored, thank you all."

Pennock ran the meeting due to the absence of President Bob Foltz.
