Two Malvern High School students were recently named winners of Carroll Electric Cooperative's annual scholarship competition.
Ta'sha Koontz and Jacob Bowling each received an $800 scholarship after they were evaluated based on their personal and scholastic achievements, school and community involvement and personal interviews.
Koontz is the daughter of James and Elissa Koontz II of Minerva. Bowling is the the son of Scott and Jeanie Bowling of Malvern.
The scholarships awards, which range from $400 to $1,200, are granted to eligible high school seniors whose parents or guardians are Carroll Electric members.
Applications were received from students in the CEC's six-county service territory.
Scholarships were also presented to the following students: $1,200 to Rachael Cline, Edison High School; $1,200 to Jimmy Gao, New Philadelphia High School; $400 to Alexandria Howell, Sandy Valley High School; and $400 to Zachary Almy, Southern Local High School.
