"St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church's very popular Lenten fish, shrimp and spaghetti dinners will start on Friday, March 3," says Fr. Victor Cinson, pastor. The dinners will continue on Friday's March 10, 17,24, 31 and April 7. All dinners will be served at St. Francis Xavier Hall, 125 S. Carrollton Street, Malvern from 57 p.m. Bake sales will be offered at the dinners on March 10 and April 7.
"This is the 26th year for the dinners," said Fr. Cinson. "We have sold more than 50,000 dinners over the years because they are fresh, generous and a great deal. For one low price, diners receive a full dinner, beverage and dessert. Our wait staff is all volunteers, so guests even save on tips. However, we are planning to build a new social hall and we will have a tip jar for anyone who would like to place a tip in our building fund. Also, all proceeds from the dinners will go to the social hall building fund."
"We have served as many as 400 guests during a single evening," said Cinson.
The adult size baked or beer battered fish and fried shrimp dinners are $9 each and the spaghetti with marinara sauce dinners are $7. All dinners for children age 12 and under are $5. Each dinner includes rolls and butter, a choice of coleslaw or applesauce, a side dish of French fries or spaghetti, the main entre and a choice of coffee, tea or soda and sherbet for dessert.
Some diners prefer to call ahead and place take-out orders. With enough notice, the orders can be prepared, packed in stay-warm containers and ready for pickup at a scheduled time. To place a take-out order, call St. Francis Xavier Hall during dinner hours at 330-863-0760.
