The June meeting of the Little Sandy Creek Ruritan Club was held June 20 at Christ Memorial Church Park in Robertsville.
The "acting president" Mike Wright called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. Wright called upon the club secretary for opening meeting with song. Dick Lotze gave the invocation.
Denny Snyder's Committee served the evening picnic sandwiches and food made by members for the attendees and guests. Wright introduced the four scholarship winners to club members. Each scholarship winner gave a statement about themselves and told about the college they plan to attend. They also told about what they plan to major in courses at college.
Wright asked for reports from each standing committee. All reported. Minutes of the May meeting and June board meeting were read and approved as well as treasurer report.
Denny Snyder brought up East Canton ball club that plays at Robertsville Park. The ball field needs some work to level the playing field. They need dirt to level the field and cost is $231. Also, it was recommended to put up a flag on back stop to identify our sponsorship in the league. This would likely cost about $150. Bob DeMate made a motion to do these projects. Gary Johnson seconded and motioned discussed, motion passed.
Lotze got a request from Ronald McDonald House for a donation. Bill Tuttle, Sr. moved to give a donation. Motion was passed. Gary Johnson expressed support to give Rody Bears to scholarship winners and moved to give a bear to each (four). Motioned was seconded to give a bear by Gene Saeger. Motion carried.
Lotze, club treasurer, brought up a report regarding club participation in East Canton Festival. His preliminary report made a profit doing the project.
Wright brought to the club a situation of a young mother in our area just had an unfortunate happening by losing her baby. The young family needs some support. Johnson moved that the club send support aide to her. Bud Barlow seconded and motion was passed.
Harry Murray requested to be dropped from club for things he needs to do. He won't have time to attend club activities. This matter referred to board.
