After 30 years in Carroll County, Carol Pittman has brought her consignment shop, Carol's Cedar Chest, to the corner of U.S. Route 30 and Market Street in Minerva.

Pittman had been looking for a new location since her previous shop in New Harrisburg burned approximately a year ago, and said she found her new site "by accident."

Her son lives down the street from the former Father Time's store and she happened to peek in the window of the part of the building that fronts on U.S. Route 30 one day. She initially rented only those two rooms, but her stock has increased so quickly, she has moved into the rest of the store as well.

"I didn't know it was going to end up this big, but I love doing it," said Pittman, who started out going to garage sales in the Canton area and opened her first consignment shop 30 years ago.

Carol's Cedar Chest is brimming with all manner of items, from couches, chairs, head- and footboards, and lamps, to small appliances and televisions, to picture frames, glassware, and all types of decorative items.

Also offered are clothing, jewelry, cookware, dishes, books, videos and DVDs, puzzles, ceiling fans, some lawn and garden items, and artwork.

Pittman noted her prices are reasonable and she offers layaway, adding, "I try to keep everything as clean as I can." She is currently taking consignments by appointment only.

Carol's Cedar Chest is open Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and can be reached at 330-627-3943.
