Gas card program offered for employed families

The Carroll County Department of Job and Family Services is announcing a one-time gas-card program for employed parents or caretakers in TANF-eligible assistance groups who are residents of Carroll County. TANF-eligible adults must be currently employed and the household income must be less than the 200 percent of poverty level for the household size. (For example, the household income for a family of four cannot exceed $3,534 per month gross income).

Applications will be received by the agency located at 95 East Main St., Carrollton, during normal business hours; however, applicants are encouraged to apply on Tuesdays from 3-6:30 p.m. The agency hours are 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and Tuesdays from 7:45 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Eligible assistance groups include employed parents with minor children living in the home, an employed pregnant woman or an employed non-custodial parent of a minor child who is cooperating with paying child support.

Applications will be processed at the time they are filed. Applicants must have all of the following documents for the application at the time of filing: completed application, proof of driver's license for each employed person and income verification for all household income, both earned and unearned for the past 30 days. Applications can be completed at the agency.
