The discovery of two indoor marijuana-growing operations has brought charges against a Lake Mohawk couple.
The Carroll County Drug Task Force arrested William E. Oberlin, 47, of 232 E. Mohawk Drive, Malvern, Aug. 10, at his home after two indoor marijuana-growing operations were uncovered. Investigators describe the operations as "large," with one at his residence and the other at his business, Oberlin Excavating, located at 7129 Alliance Road, Malvern.
According to the Carroll County Sheriff's reports, a total of 189 marijuana plants were seized from the locations, as well as numerous grow lights, packaged marijuana and other items related to the cultivation of marijuana. Several firearms and a motor vehicle were also seized and are subject to forfeiture.
Oberlin's wife, Norine A. Oberlin, was taken into custody Aug. 12 at the sheriff's office after arriving to post bond for her husband.
Both are facing one felony-three count of trafficking in marijuana, as well as one felony-three count of cultivation of marijuana.
These arrests are the result of a several-month investigation into the alleged growing operations. Assisting in the investigation were the Lake Mohawk Sheriff's Post, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Ohio Bureau of Investigation, and the Jackson Township Police Department.
