E. Rochester man dies after being hit by car

Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol Lisbon Post are investigating a crash that left an East Rochester man dead after being struck by a car.

According to the police reports, the crash occurred Saturday, Aug. 28, at 8:52 p.m. on Speidel Road (Township Road 837), west of McCann Road (Township Road 725), in Hanover Township.

A 1993 Dodge Intrepid was northwest bound on Speidel Road when it struck a pedestrian, who was reported to be kneeling in the roadway. The pedestrian, later identified as Mathew D. Flugan, 37, of East Rochester, suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
