Future of Brown Local's schools lies with provisionals

Published:

Preliminary election results indicate voters in Brown Local School District failed to pass the 6.8-mill bond issue and 0.5-mill maintenance levy Tuesday by 70 votes.

The levy failed 1,294-1,224.

"We are very disappointed, but will not be defeated. Our community deserves a new school with partial funding from the Ohio School Facilities Commission,"said Superintendent Connie Griffin. "Therefore, we will continue our campaign to pass a bond issue before our opportunity for OSFC funding expires in August 2013."

There were 90 provisional ballots cast at the five precincts and at the Carroll County Board of Eleections, which could change the results of the bond issue. These votes will be counted Nov. 19.
