In a surprising move, Malvern Village Council asked for Fiscal Officer Pat Griffith's resignation and approved it at its March 6 regular meeting.
Griffith turned in her keys and exited Village Hall prior to the start of the meeting. Council went into a half hour executive session to discuss a public employee as well as sale of property which was further discussion on the Colfor water situation which is still being "worked out" on Colfor's end. Council held a special meeting on Feb. 27 which consisted of an executive session for nearly an hour discussing a public employee or official.
Council President Barb Burgess informed the media that her and Tom Holmes have talked with some people and interviews will be happening during a special meeting on Thursday, March 9 at 6 p.m. No statement was made, explaining why Griffith's resignation was requested. Griffith's resignation just stated she resigns her position as fiscal officer on March 6.
In other news, the board:
APPROVED Superintendent of Village Services Steve Felton to purchase two LED conversion lights for a metal post lamp downtown for $90 each. One light is out now, the second would be used as a back-up.
HEARD that hydrants will be flushed in town this week.
APPROVED the water department to have windows washed inside and out for $50 a month.
HEARD the Northern Corridor Project is on hold indefinitely, due to lack of funds which is a result of a grant that fell through for Carroll County. This project was meant to connect water and sewer from Malvern to Carrollton.
LEARNED those who wish to rent the park must send only a check or a money order to Village Hall. They also must be made out to the Village of Malvern, not the mayor. Burgess reported that the park book has been a mess since they finally got it back. Some callers who had paid reservations are not written in the book and so on. Burgess stated that they will be honored.
PAID the village bills from the appropriate funds for $31,527.78 in vendor invoices plus $8,580.01 in payroll pre-approved by the Finance Committee to be paid March 9.
The next regular meeting will be held Monday, March 20, 7 p.m. at Village Hall.
