Malvern Village Council found its new fiscal officer at its March 9 special meeting, only three short days after receiving a requested resignation from the previous staffer.
Ashley Ring, of East Sparta, was interviewed along with another candidate during a half hour executive session and was offered the position. Ring is currently employed at the Bank of Magnolia where she conducts accounting, audits and compliance. She is a 2003 graduate of Sandy Valley and studied business at Muskingum University and holds a general business degree and a master of business administration from Malone University.
Councilwomen Arlene Phillips and Brittany Burgess were absent. Councilwoman Eunice Thompson voted no.
Council will instruct Village Solicitor Chad Murdock, who did not attend the special meeting, to prepare a hiring ordinance. Ring's starting date has not been set.
When asked the reasoning for requesting previous Fiscal Officer Pat Griffith's resignation, council declined to divulge any details.
"We were finding some things in some papers that we do not want to divulge right now," said Mayor Bob DeLong.
