Tickets are still available for the Catholic Women's Club Quarter Auction scheduled for Sunday, April 30. The Quarter Auction will be held at St. Francis hall, 125 S. Carrollton Street, Malvern. The live bidding for Quarter Auction items will start at 2 p.m., but the doors will open at 12:30 p.m. so that guests can participate in the silent auction, view the many great items that will be available for the Quarter Auction, and enjoy a variety of food and beverages that will be available for sale.
"The donors for this year's auction have provided a large variety of wonderful items for our guests to win," said Jackie Contini, co-chairman. "We have been given gift certificates to great restaurants like the Hart Mansion and Olive Garden and to retail stores like Discount Drug Mart. We have many baskets filled with items like wine, Ghiradelli chocolates, beauty items, coffees supplies, a baker's basket, dental whitening supplies, cheeses, a toddler's basket, a basket filled with gardening supplies, and bath and body supplies. We also have a Coach wristlet with $20, and a gift certificate from Claws Grooming. Items are still arriving and we are confident there will be many special items tempt every bidder."
There will also be a silent auction, door prizes, a 50/50 drawing and a drawing for raffle prizes.
Tickets for the event cost $5 and each guest will receive one bidding paddle. Additional paddles are available for rent for only $1 each. The bid for items valued at $10 to $25 will be one quarter; items valued at $26 to $50 will require a two quarter bid; items valued at $51 to $75 will require a three quarter bid; and items valued at $76 or more will require a four quarter bid.
If a guest wants to bid on an item, they will put the correct number of quarters in a container on their table. If they have rented more than one paddle, each paddle will require a separate bid payment. A number will be drawn from the drawing bucket. If the number matches the paddle of a bidder with a raised paddle, the bidder will need to call out the number to receive the prize item.
"The quarters from all bidders will remain in the container and be used for the construction of a new church hall. "We like to think there will be no losers," Contini says, "because the new hall will become a wonderful resource for our entire community. The current Francis Xavier Hall is over 60 years old and has been used for thousands of community fund raising events, weddings, dinners parties, social gatherings and more."
Several vendors will also have display tables and items for purchase. They include: Tastefully Simple; Premier Design Jewelry: Mary Kay Cosmetics; Young Living Essential Oils; Thimble Shop; Scentsy; Longaberger; 31; Keep Collective Jewelry; Marty's Cards; Tuperware; and Pampered Chef.
Tickets for the event can be purchased from Jan Prevot at 330- 771-7414, Jackie Contini at 330-863-0740 or at the door the day of the event.
