Published: April 13, 2017 12:00 AM

Minerva Public Library at 677 Lynnwood Drive is dimming the lights and breaking out the coffee for its very first "Open Mic Poetry Night" on Wednesday, April 26, at 7 p.m.

For five minutes each, both new and seasoned poets are welcome to read either an original poem or a favorite published poem. All forms of verse are welcome.

The event is for ages 13 and up, so keep the language family-friendly.

Light refreshments will be provided during the reading.

All participants will receive a poetry booklet that the library will create after the event.

The booklet will contain all of the original verse read that evening. Those who would like to have their poem included in the booklet should make sure to bring or send a digital copy of the work to the library.

Registration for this event is encouraged but not required.
