The Carroll County Retired Association met Friday, April 21, at Minerva Classic '57 restaurant.

The guests in attendance were introduced to Rose Seck and President Earl Ferguson welcomed Kendra Burger who is the Ohio Retired Teachers Association District IX director. Burger reported on the State Teachers Retirement System reduction of the cost of living adjustment to 0% and shared information from ORTA about member benefits. She also shared activities other retired teacher associations in District IX are participating in.

The minutes and treasurer's report were read and committee reports given by Rose Seck, Darlene Smith, and Rosemary Dennis. The members voted last year to donate to the Habitat for Humanity family building a home in Sherrodsville. Smith reported on the many household goods she purchased and delivered to them.

In keeping with the Association's theme for this year, "Reaching Out to Others-Volunteerism," two presenters from Harcatus explained their organization. Noel Bertini-Baker spoke on the Senior Outreach and Advocacy Program and Peggy Leslie spoke on volunteer opportunities through their RSVP program.

The next meeting will be held on June 16 at the Carrollton Bible Chapel. All active and retired teachers in Carroll County are welcome and encouraged to attend for information and fellowship.
