MARLBORO TWP. -- A Minerva graduate was killed April 30 when the car he was driving was involved in a two-vehicle crash at Paris Avenue and State Street NE.
The victim was identified as Duane Shook Jr., 19, of Canton. Shook had been driving a Dodge Neon at about 3 p.m. south on Paris Avenue NE when he failed to yield the right of way at the intersection with State Street NE, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.
The Dodge Neon ran into a Toyota Highlander, driven by Carol E. Mirocke, 55, of North Canton, which had been traveling west on State Street NE. The Dodge Neon landed in a field off the side of the road on its top. The other vehicle landed in a road-side ditch.
Shook, a 2016 graduate of Minerva, was pronounced dead at the scene. Mirocke was transported to Mercy Medical Center. Her injuries were not believed to be serious.
