The Mohawk Trail Garden Club met at the Lake Mohawk Clubhouse with 19 members and one guest present. Eva Price, the bird chairperson, spoke about the gray partridge, North American morning dove, zebra finch and cowbird. President Shirley Finefrock shared news of the upcoming programs from the Canton Garden Center.

Member Linda Dantz shared with the club a picture of her son, Army Staff Sergeant Robert Jenkins, with his headquarter platoon, wearing skull caps. They are stationed in Anyung-ri, South Korea. Five members of the club, Carol Davidson, Bev DeMarinis, Shirley Finefrock, Dolores Hudson and Becky Kocsis, knitted and crocheted the caps for the men to wear under their helmets for warmth and comfort. Her son called them "Happy Hats" and said the men really appreciated the donation from the garden club ladies.

The garden club will hold its annual plant sale at the Lake Mohawk Garage Sale on Saturday, May 13, 8 a.m. until noon at the Main Beach pavilion. The public is invited.

Tasty box lunches from Donna's Deli in Carrollton followed the meeting. The ladies decorated silk scarves with flowers, under the direction of member Kim Franz.
