Minerva High School and R.G. Drage Career Technical Center student Hannah Trussel won gold in the regional Family, Career and Community Leaders of America competition in March.
Trussel, who is a student in Drage's bakery and pastry operations program, took gold in the "Creative Cake" division of the competition.
Along with four other gold and silver winners, Trussel advanced to the state competition in Columbus held at the end of April.
Other winners at the regional competition were:
Creative Cake gold: Kymbirlee Kiko, of Tuslaw School District, bakery/pastry operations, and Anny Wenhart, Northwest School District, culinary arts.
Pastry Tray gold: Brittany Best, Fairless School District, bakery/pastry operations.
Pastry Tray silver: Rachael Blakely, Northwest School District, bakery/pastry operations.
