The Minerva Rotary Homecoming car for 2017 is now on view at various locations around Minerva including at Minerva Bowl and Kishman's IGA.
This year's car is a 2002 Ford Mustang Convertible, sometimes called a Fourth-Generation Mustang. The car is equipped with a 3.8/V-6 engine, automatic transmission, CD-6 changer, cloth interior, spoiler and 16-inch tires.
Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20, and are available from any Rotarian. The winning ticket will be drawn on June 17 at the conclusion of the 2017 Homecoming.
Tickets may also be purchased the following locations True Value Hardware, YMCA, PNC Bank, Loudon Motors, Lion's Den, Kishman's IGA, Consumers National Bank, Minerva Bowl, Minerva Credit Union, Coy-Kamph Financial Group and Minerva Dairy.
The Homecoming car is a major source of income for Minerva Rotary, which uses funds raised to support international and local service projects. These include support of youth leadership development, literacy, clean water, and work to eliminate polio worldwide.
Each spring the Minerva Rotary Club presents dictionaries to fourth-grade students in Minerva. In May, the club will award scholarships to Minerva High School graduates. Two $1,200 scholarships will support students pursuing a degree at a four-year college, and two $600 scholarships will support students pursuing a two-year degree. In May, Rotarians will begin another year of leasing and placing American flags on national holidays.
