The Minerva Board of Education recognized State Science Fair students at its May 15 meeting.
Hana Esber, Halli Ford, Sierra Amantangelo, Ian Beard and Blake Archer were honored by the board and Superintendent Gary Chaddock for attending the state science fair.
Eighth-graders Esber and Ford teamed up to present Music Extravaganza which was about how music changes achievement in school. They received an excellent rating.
Ninth-grader Sierra Amantangelo presented Pitch Perfetc, where she tested the perfect softball pitch. She received an Excellent rating.
Ninth-grader Ian Beard tested The Effects on Different Spawn Mediums on Mushroom Growth. He received an Superior rating.
Tenth-grader Blake Archer researched "How are different antibiotics affected by e.coli?" He received a Superior rating.
APPROVED recommendation to employ Susan Zifer as the 2017 summer school coordinator at Minerva Elementary School. Also approved was the following staff for 2017 summer school on an as-needed basis at Minerva Elementary: Kayla Byrd, Hillary Hopple, Nicole Kiko, Christine Kohl, Pam Schmuck, Sara Wallace, and Amanda Widlicka.
APPROVED recommendation to accept the resignation of Theresa Berry, cafeteria employee effective at the end of the 2016-2017 school year.
APPROVED following substitute bus drivers for 2016-2017 school year: Brandi Grove and James Bailey.
Additionally approved is Minerva High School students as 2017 summer helpers: Kohle Dodge, James Fink, Reid Miller and Coy Mullins.
APPROVED recommendation for Stacey Bettis to receive a stipend for the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 Summer Meals Program.
