Minerva will graduate 127 this Sunday

Minerva High School will graduate 127 students during its 131th annual commencement exercises on Sunday, May 28, at 3 p.m. in the gymnasium.

The class flower is the red rose. The class motto is "What lies behind us, and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us", by Ralph Waldo Emerson. The class colors are crimson and gray.

Senior class officers are Brianna Gassman, president; Chelsea Jarvis, vice president; Regan Jones, secretary; and Alexis Grogg, treasurer.

The class speaker is Jack Hanley. The guest speak is Jason Mikes. Pastor Dale Roberts will give the invocation and benediction. Reiley Cowart is in charge of closing ceremonies.

Commencement marshals are Grace Maley and Peyton Morgan.

The Class of 2017 will be presented by Minerva Local School District Superintendent Gary Chaddock. Diplomas will be presented by board members Robert Foltz, Susan Crawford, Jeff Evans, Stanley Pennock and Robert Yeagley.

Students receiving highest academic recognition (3.90-4.00) are Reiley Cowart, Jack Hanley, and Emily Prendergast.

Those receiving high academic recognition (3.60-3.89) are Sarah Fry, Brianna Gassman, Alexis Grogg, Haleigh Holderbaum, Ruth Hrusch, Regan Jones, Piper Koble, Madison Mayle, McKenna Patterson, Elizabeth Ryan, McKaylie Thomas, Madison Timmerman, and Rebecca Zornick.

Students receiving academic recognition (3.33-3.59) are Tori Bagshaw, Alivia Bates, Grace Bolanz, Roxanne Campbell, Abagayle Exline, Abby Hall, Wyatt Kohl, Blaine Neikirk, Frank Pachan, Madylin Phillips, Ashley Pittson, Isabella Roudebush, Tayler Strait, Sierrah Truex, and Nora Yankovich.

Honors diplomas will be awarded to Grace Bolanz, Reiley Cowart, Sarah Fry, Brianna Gassman, Alexis Grogg, Adam Gross, Jack Hanley, Haleigh Holderbaum, Regan Jones, Blaine Neikirk, McKaylie Thomas, Sierrah Truex, Nora Yankovich, and Rebecca Zornick.
