The Minerva Board of Education approved several items at its June 22 meeting, several being routine.
Approved was its membership with the Ohio High School Athletic Association for Minerva High School and Minerva Middle School for the 2017-2018 school year.
The board also approved the agreement between Minerva Local and Brown Local Schools regarding the maintenance of school buses and vans between both schools. Also approved was the resolution for the Stark County Schools Council of Governments Cooperative Advertising and receiving bids for integrated school bus units.
The board approved a resolution to adopt a calamity day alternative make-up plan.
The board accepted the Bullying Incidents Summary for the second semester of 2016-2017. There were five incidents at the elementary during the second semester; two at the middle school and one at the high school.
APPROVED the interagency and transition agreement between Harcatus Head Start and Minerva Local Schools for the 2017-2018 school year.
APPROVED recommendation of Cathy Hart as case manager with a per hour as needed teacher contract to be paid by time sheets for the 2017-2018 school year.
APPROVED one year limited contracts per salary schedule for the 2017-2018 school year for the following including: Natalie Blaisman, title tutor, MES; Robert Carle, tutor, MES; Hilary Hoppel, title I tutor, MES; Sheri Imler, tutor, MES; Nicole Kiko, Title I Tutor, MES; Melissa Ronches, Tutor, MMS; Sarah Shawgo, Intervention Specialist Tutor, MMS; Stephanie Soehnlen, tutor MES; Brittany Taylor, title I tutor, MES; and Amanda Widlicka, title I tutor, MES.
APPROVED the following Response to Intervention Coaches for 15 additional hours to be paid from the General Fund for the 2016-2017 school year: Joni Anderson, Dianne Ferrell, Jaynie Galay, Karen Johnson, Lynda Jones, Kendra Peterson, Beth Reninger, Katrina Runion and Stephanie Soehnlen.
APPROVED recommendation to employ the following staff for 2017 summer school on an as needed basis at Minerva Elementary Grade 3: Joni Anderson, Jenna Sweitzer, and Brittany Taylor.
APPROVED recommendation to employ Casey LaHa as a 10 month part-time secretary per hour as needed, not to exceed 120 days per year; Karen McGeorge, cafeteria worker from 2.5 hour to four hour for the 2017-2018 school year; and Estelita Gillard as an Educational Aide per hour as needed for the 2017-2018 school year.
APPROVED recommendation to approve the following supplemental contracts for the 2017-2018 school year: Tonya Crawford, Summer Meals Program ($12 hour) effective June 1; Sheri Rodgers, Summer Meals Program ($12 hour) effective June 1; and Nate Smith, assistant boys soccer coach (full).
APPROVED the expenditures for May in the amount of $2,181,137.50. Treasurer Larry Pottorf reported that there were various revisions to the certificate of amended resources and appropriations modifications in anticipation of the fiscal year end on June 30. An advance return of $50,000 was made from the Food Service back to the General Fund. This completes the repayment of the $200,000 which the General Fund forwarded to Food Service back in 2010. Temporary appropriations were approved which is required prior to approval of the permanent appropriations in September. This covers the district for the July through September timeframe.
