The Malvern Rotary sponsored Field of Honor was proudly laid out in the field behind the Malvern United Methodist Church Education Building July 12-16.
Master of Ceremonies Pixie Furbee spoke about the Field of Honor and Malvern UMC Pastor Frank Zugaro said the opening and closing prayer.
"Please say thank you to our veterans, policeman, firefighters, EMT and all service personnel," said Furbee.
Introduced was Christine McLean of Carrollton who performed the following songs live and solo: "God Bless the USA," "Amazing Grace," "In God We Still Trust," and "Come as you are." McLean also spoke about the importance of God and the United States of America and talked in between songs.
A veteran pinning ceremony was set for Friday.
Following the ceremony, Rotarian Jack Polen led the crown in singing God Bless America.
At the organizational meeting the Rotary Club, a committee of Roger Bartley, who is heading up the Field of Honor, Rev. Wally Anderson, Club President Randy Smith, and Gary Pearce began initial planning of the event.
The Field was laid out by David Bodo Surveying. Rebar was be driven into the ground and the flagpoles were placed on them. People looking for the flag dedicated to their loved one, veteran, or hero was able to locate their flag in a book at an information booth set up at the entrance to the Field.
