The vehicle show at Dancing on the Bridge includes not only cars, but motorcycles, trucks and farm tractors, too.
Registration will be in the Historical Society Park Gazebo on Porter Street from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11. The cars will be shown on the downtown streets of Malvern.
Jack Leggett has been the car-show chairman every year, and he hopes this is the best year yet. "The car show is a good way to kick off Dancing on the Bridge, and I hope our seventh year will be a record-breaker for the number of vehicles. It's always one of the most popular parts of the festival," Leggett said.
The entry fee is $6 per class, and one car can be entered in a maximum of two classes. The second class (for the same vehicle) is $3. From 1-2:30 p.m., anyone can vote for their favorite vehicles, since this is a "People's Choice" show. Awards will be presented at 3:30. Trophies will be given for various classes; Best of Show for car, truck, motorcycle and tractor categories; Mayor's Trophy; and Chairman's Trophy. The committee thanks Gary Marks, a local resident, who donated trophies, which are being repurposed for the 2010 and 2011 show. The first 75 registrants will receive dash plaques.
The 2010 classes are: 1940s and earlier; 1950s; 1960s; 1970s; 1980s; 1990s and up; Corvettes; Mustangs; best 55, 56 and 57 Chevy; street rods; muscle cars; convertibles; motorcycles; Harley Davidsons; trucks; SUVs; and tractors-open class.
Spikeman, Ohio's number one car-show deejay, will entertain 10 a.m.-4 p.m. From 2-3 p.m., singers Leslie Travis, Karly Polen and Joe Campbell will perform. For more information, call Leggett at 330-863-1744.
