Quin Markins (left) received the Outstanding Player Award at the 2009 Ohio State Football Camp.

Markins, a 6', 135-pound eighth grader at Minerva, participated as a quarterback in the three-day position camp July 19-21.

The camp was held on the campus of The Ohio State University, under the direction of Head Coach Jim Tressel (right) and his staff.

This is the second straight year Markins has attended this camp. A year ago, he received the Outstanding Player Award at the running back position.

The three-day position camp was open to athletes entering grades 7-12. Campers participated in Ohio State skill-development drills for their specified positions. Strength and speed training and techniques were also emphasized. Campers were divided by age and position.

In just one year's time, Markins saw his 40-yard dash time improve from a 5.8 to a 4.9 seconds.

Markins is the son of Mollee and Curtis Markins.
