Hornets defend home course

Malvern improved to 5-2 on the season with a 166-168 win against Hiland at Great Trail Golf Course.

Mitchell Loomis led the way with a 3-over-par 39.

Tanner Bower had a 41, Cameron Glick had a 42, Nick Mohr had a 44 and Noah McKinney had a 45.

"Mitchell led us with a 39," commented Head Coach Ted Majestic. "He played very well, while Tanner shot his best round of the year, as well as Cameron, who shot a solid 42.

"This was a big win for us in our first home match of the season. Hiland finished fourth in the early IVC tournament and beat us by 11 that day. The kids responded to the challenge."

Malvern was to face Sandy Valley on Sept. 4, before hosting Ridgewood today (Sept. 6). The boys will compete in the Spring Hills Tournament this Friday, Sept. 7, host Conotton Valley on Monday, Sept. 10, and travel to Newcomerstown on Tuesday, Sept. 11, and to Strasburg on Wednesday, Sept. 12.
