Malvern beats Newcomerstown

Nick Mohr carded a 3-over-par 39 during a match against Conotton Valley at Great Trail Golf Course. The Rockets were forced to forfeit the match due to only having three players.

Noah McKinney had a 40, Mitch Loomis and Tanner Bower each had 42s, and Cameron Glick had a 47.

The boys beat Newcomerstown 173-219 for their ninth win of the season.

Loomis had a 41, Bower had a 43, McKinney had a 44 and Mohr and Glick each had 45s.

The Hornets lost to Strasburg 172-184.

Bower played well with a 3-over-par 36 at Willandale. McKinney had a 44, Loomis had a 50, Mohr had a 51, and Glick had a 52.

Malvern (9-3, 4-2) was to face Tusky Central on Sept. 18, before closing out the season at the Inter-Valley Conference Post Season Tournament at Strasburg today (Sept. 20).

The Division III Sectional Tournament will be held Sept. 25 at Willandale Golf Club.

Teams competing include Barnesville, Beallsville, Bellaire, Bishop Rosecrans, Bridgeport, Buckeye Trail, Catholic Central, Conotton Valley, Fort Frye, Garaway, Hiland, Malvern, Monroe Central, Newcomerstown, Ridgewood, River, Shadyside, Strasburg, Toronto, and Tuscarawas Central Catholic.

The top three teams and top three individuals not on a qualifying team will advance to the district tournament at Cumberland Trail Golf Course on Oct. 2.
