It has been quite the season for the Lady Hornets and they hope to continue their success tonight (Feb. 23) as they host Caldwell in a Division IV East District sectional opener.
For the second straight year, Malvern finished up its regular season with an 18-4 mark. The girls had their highest finish ever in the Inter-Valley Conference, placing second with a 13-3 mark.
The Lady Hornets feature four players who average more than nine points a game.
Junior Kelsi Hulit leads the way with 18.8 points and 10.5 rebounds per contest.
Senior Tara Tucci averages 13 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.9 assists; senior Hunter Martin
averages 10.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 5 steals; and sophomore Jasmine Goldsworthy averages 9.5 points and 7.4 rebounds.
As a team, Malvern is connecting on 42 percent of its field-goal attempts, 28 percent from behind the 3-point line, and 68 percent from the charity stripe.
The Lady Hornets are seeded second, while Caldwell (5-17) received the 16th seed.
If Malvern wins, it will host either 8th-seeded River or 10th-seeded Beallsville this Saturday, Feb. 25, 7 p.m.
