Lady Lions to battle for a sectional title this Saturday

The Lady Lions concluded their season with a 12-10 record, finishing fourth in the Northeastern Buckeye Conference with an 8-6 mark.

Minerva, the eighth seed, will take on either seventh-seeded Beaver or 15th-seeded St. Clairsville in a sectional final of the Division II East District Tournament this Saturday, Feb. 25, 7 p.m. at the better seeded team's site.

The Lady Lions are led by Bri Gassman.

The senior averages 14.8 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2 steals per contest.

Junior Lauren Frigyes averages 8.5 points and 7.1 rebounds, junior Madi Pearson averages 6.9 points and 2.8 rebounds, senior Alivia Bates averages 6.5 points and 3.7 rebounds, and junior Kayla Kinsey averages 4.5 points and 3 rebounds.

As a team, Minerva is shooting 34.6 percent from the field, 28.8 percent from behind the 3-point line, and 72 percent from the charity stripe.
