Minerva returns 12 lettermen as it heads into the 2017 boys track and field season.
Back are Cody Wyatt, Alex Lucas, Coy Mullins, Carl Fritz, Connor Fritz and Brendan Garrison, Taylor Lowmiller, Trevor Kirkpatrick, Joe Stafford, Jason Williams, Nick Perrin and Benner Kendrick.
The Lions opened with an 81-47 loss to visiting West Branch.
Joey Stafford collected multiple firsts, winning the 1600 in 5:01 and the 800 in 2:14.
He was also a member of the first-place 4x800 (9:32.8) along with Nick Bledsoe, Igor Borges and Wyatt Kohl. He also placed second in the 3200 (12:23).
Also winning were Jason Williams in the 100 (11.4) and Ty LaHa in the 3200 (12:22).
Seconds went to Daniel Hoagland in the high jump (5'), Connor Fritz in the 110 hurdles (17.1), Bledsoe in the 1600 (5:11) and 800 (2:19.9), and Williams in the 400 (53.8).
Finishing third were Coy Mullins in the long jump (18'1), Ashton Hilliard in the 100 (12.3) and 200 (25.5), and Kohl in the 400 (55.7).
"The boys team had some nice efforts today," commented Head Coach Frank Monk. "They are working very hard and should steadily improve as the season goes along."
