Lady Hornets softball continues to get better

Hope Whaley doubled twice and drove in four runs during Malvern's 10-8 loss to host East Canton.

Kenzie Haidet went 2-for-3 with a double and run scored; Macy Zeiger had two hits, two stolen bases and two runs scored; Cailin Wade had two hits, an RBI and a run scored; and Paige Elder singled and drove in two.

Elder pitched six innings, giving up 10 runs, seven earned, on 14 hits. She struck out five and walked one.

Earlier in the week, the Lady Hornets were blanked by the Lady Tigers.

Malvern managed just two hits on the day, singles by Danielle Casler and Madison Lewis.

Elder allowed 10 earned runs on 16 hits in six innings of work, striking out two.

Elder had two hits and two RBIs to lead the Lady Hornets. On the mound, the senior allowed four earned runs on 16 hits, striking out six.

Haidet went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI; and Zeiger singles, stole two bases, and scored a run.

Tusky Valley - 11

Malvern - 6

Haidet's bat continued to stay hot with four more hits, including a double, three RBIs and two runs scored.

Zeiger went 4-for-5 with a stolen base and run scored; Casler had two hits and two RBIs; Lewis singled twice; and Whaley scored two runs.

Elder gave up five earned runs on 12 hits.

Malvern (3-6) will host Tusky Central today (April 20); before traveling to Sandy Valley this Friday, April 21; to Wellsville for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 22; to Newcomerstown on Monday, April 24; and to Conotton Valley on Tuesday, April 25. The girls will return home for a matchup against Hiland on Wednesday, April 26.
