Lauren Frigyes scattered four hits and Amber Hume doubled twice in leading Minerva to an 8-3 win over Alliance.

Frigyes gave up three runs, only one earned, on four hits and five walks, striking out nine.

Hume scored two runs and had an RBI; Aubrey Stanford went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base; Olivia Kamph singled, doubled and drove in three runs; Frigyes collected two hits; and Elyssa Imler doubled.

"We started off the game a little flat, but the girls stayed after it," stated Head Coach Nicole Hilliard. "Our offense did a nice job of stringing some hits together for big fourth and fifth innings."

Minerva - 6

The Lady Dukes trailed 6-4, but rallied with three runs in the sixth inning to pull out the win.

Stanford tripled, singled and scored three runs; Mady Phillips went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs; Hume singled twice and drove in a run; and Imler scored two runs.

Frigyes allowed seven runs, two earned, on nine hits in seven innings of work. She struck out six and walked three.

"This was a tough loss for the Lions," stated Coach Hilliard. "We played them much better this time around, but mishandled a couple of plays that proved costly and the Dukes had a couple of perfect throws to the plate from their outfield to keep us from scoring.

"It was a battle against a solid team. The type of game you love playing in."

Minerva (9-6, 4-6) will travel to Louisville today (May 4), before hosting Carrollton on Tuesday, May 9.

Division II East District Tournament

Minerva received the 12th seed and will host #15 Dover on Saturday, May 6, 1 p.m.

The winner will travel to #11 Union Local Wednesday, May 10, 5 p.m.
