Minerva boys fall, but Lady Lions win, up record to 4-1

The Minerva boys were edged by Marlington 66-62 during a league dual meet.

Jason Williams had four firsts on the day. He won the 100 (11.31), 200 (22.89) and 400 (53.2), and was a member of the victorious 4x400 (3:36.22) along with Carl Fritz, Coy Mullins and Wyatt Kohl.

Also claiming titles were Brendan Garrison in the discus (109'9), Mullins in the long jump (18'6), Joey Stafford in the 1600 (4:43) and 3200 (10:59), and the 4x800 (8:33.4) consisting of Kohl, Nick Bledsoe, Fritz and Stafford.

Seconds went to Noe Gonzalez in the shot (39'3.25), Bledsoe in the 1600 (5:01) and 3200 (11:03), and Fritz in the 800 (2:09).

Placing third were Cody Wyatt in the 1600 (5:03.14), Kyle Hudson in the 300 hurdles (44.38), Isaiah Wright in the discus (101'35), Connor Fritz in the 110 hurdles (17.46) and Kohl in the 800 (2:11).

Girls Track

The Lady Lions improved to 4-1 in the Northeastern Buckeye Conference with a 70-58 win over Marlington.

Firsts went to Emmalee Markins in the 100 (13.2) and 200 (26.59); Mack Scott in the 1600 (5:37); Nelle Yankovich in the 800 (2:35.1) and 3200 (12:17); the 4x800 (11:08) consisting of Yankovich, Scott, Sarah Carver and Kayla Eddy; the 4x100 (52.0) consisting of Ashley Gulling, Markins, Indre'sia Leavell and Skylar Trussel; and the 4x400 (4:17.3) consisting of Carver, Trussel, Ava Burman and Amanda Kukunis.

Placing second were Jordan Crowe in the discus (94'10), Natalie Crum in the shot (28'6.75), Shelby Wheeler in the high jump (4'8), Madi Pearson in the 100 hurdles (17.21) and 300 hurdles (50.82), Carver in the 400 (1:03.45), Scott in the 800 (2:38) and Jenna Daulbaugh in the 3200 (12:27).

Finishing third were Trussel in the 100 (13.4), Daulbaugh in the 1600 (5:43), Burman in the 400 (1:04.47), Carver in the 800 (2:38.8), Kukunis in the 200 (27.28), and Scott in the 3200 (12:57).

Minerva will travel to Carrollton this Tuesday, May 9.
