Minerva two-sport star Carl Fritz will have a full slate when he enters his freshman season at West Liberty.
Fritz has decided to participate in two sports for the Hilltoppers -- soccer and track.
Joining him on signing day were his mom, Rikke Fritz; and (standing, left to right) Head Track Coach John Williams III and Head Soccer Coach Dave Gotschall.
"I wanted to go to a small school and not feel like a number," stated Fritz. "The coaches will work with me one-on-one, and I don't think I would get that kind of instruction at a bigger school. My mom graduated from there, and I like the campus.
"I'd like to thank Coach Gotschall and Coach Williams. Both have pushed me to be my best, and saw potential before I even saw it. I would also like to thank my parents (Rikke and Ted Fritz) for supporting me in everything that I do."
Fritz plans on majoring in either computer science or education. He is a three-year letter winner in soccer, and was selected this past season to the Northeastern Buckeye Conference and East District first teams.
During his junior campaign in track, Fritz earned second-team honors in the NBC as a member of the 4x800. He qualified to regionals in the 800, 4x800 and 4x400; and the 4x800 squad qualified to the state championships with a third-place finish at regionals.
