Lady Lions claim 12 firsts against Alliance

The Lady Lions had an easy time with Alliance, improving to 5-1 with a 96-32 victory.

Firsts went to Abby Wheeler in the high jump (4'6), Alyssa Markins in the 100 (12.89), Sarah Carver in the 1600 (5:52), Amanda Kukunis in the 400 (1:02.45), Natalie Crum in the shot (30'), Jordan Crowe in the discus (90'2), Nelle Yankovich in the 800 (2:36), and Mack Scott in the 3200 (12:18).

The Lady Lions swept the relays: the 4x800 (11:22) consisting of Ava Burman, Carver, Scott and Yankovich; the 4x200 (1:58.25) consisting of Emmalee Markins, Ashley Gulling, Burman and A. Markins; the 4x100 (52.69) consisting of E. Markins, A. Markins, Idre'sia Leavell and Gulling; and the 4x400 (5:41.14) consisting of Yankovich, Kukunis, Burman and Carver.

Placing second were Madi Pearson in the high jump (4'4), 100 hurdles (16.31) and 300 hurdles (51.03); Kayla Eddy in the 1600 (6:04) and 800 (2:42); Renee Hartong in the shot (27'10.25); Crum in the discus (80'9); E. Markins in the 200 (27.38); and Jenna Daulbaugh in the 3200 (12:43).

Finishing third were Abby Chaddock in the high jump (4'4), 3200 (13:18) and 1600 (6:05); Leavell in the 100 (14.01), Abby Stoffer in the 300 hurdles (55.88), Carly Koontz in the shot (25'4), Hartong in the discus (78'4), Joaquina Rossi in the 800 (2:51); and Kukunis in the 200 (27.82).

Boys Track

The Lions were beaten by Alliance 86-42

Placing first were the 4x800 (9:21.72) consisting of Joey Stafford, Wyatt Kohl, Nick Bledsoe and Carl Fritz; Jason Williams in the 400 (52.82) and 200 (23.25); Fritz in the 800 (2:12); Bledsoe in the 3200 (10:52); and the 4x400 (4:22.38) consisting of Fritz, Kohl, Taylor Lowmiller and Igor Borges.

Seconds went to Stafford in the 1600 (4:39), Noe Gonzalez in the shot (41'6), and Brendan Garrison in the discus (106'10).

Finishing third were Bledsoe in the 1600 (4:56), Kohl in the 400 (56.0), and Lowmiller in the 300 hurdles (45.14).

Minerva will compete in the Northeastern Buckeye Conference Track and Field Championships this Friday, May 12 at Salem.

Division II District Meet

Minerva will take part in the district tournament at West Holmes High School on Thursday and Saturday, May 18 & 20.

Also competing are Beaver, Carrollton, Claymont, Coshocton, East Liverpool, Edison, Garaway, Harrison Central, Indian Valley, River View, Sandy Valley, Tuscarawas Valley and West Holmes.

The top four in each event will advance to the regional meet at Athens High School on on May 25 and May 27.
