Carrollton author will hold book signing

On Nov. 24, Valarrie Harris of Carrollton will be having a book signing at the Carroll County Arts Center, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and after the parade.

"Little Fishy" is a children's book written and also illustrated by Harris. Little Fishy teaches children about courage and to be brave if they want to succeed.

Harris created Fishy years ago when her daughter was a toddler. Years later when babysitting her grandson, she would sing the same fish song to him that she had sung to her daughter.

When she decided that she wanted to write a book about the little fish she had sung about for years, she found the Dorrance Publishing Company in Pittsburgh. The company became interested in publishing the book for her.

This book is the first in a series of 13 that Harris has planned.

Once completed and placed in order, the book bindings will spell "Little Friends". She is painting the pages for her second book in the series, "Iguana Named Iggy", at the present time.

Harris is an artist and sketches the pages and the front and back covers and then paints them, making a very attractive book for children.
