Sunday's benefit to help reunite cancer patient's family for Christmas

A benefit is planned Sunday, Dec. 2, to help reunite an area cancer patient's family for the holidays.

Seth Lawrence of Carrollton was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer this summer. The Carrollton graduate has lived in the Minerva area for most of his life. A U.S. Army veteran, he has coached area children in T-ball and flag football.

Unfortunately, Lawrence had used all of his Family Medical Leave benefit and is now unemployed. He will have surgery in early December at the Cleveland Clinic.

He and his wife, Camy, have five children, Abryl, 20, Maddie, 10, Hailie, 9, Nicholas, 6, and Logan, 4. Because of his illness, three of his children, Hailie, Nicholas and Logan, are staying with family in Texas. His oldest daughter, Abryl, is staying with family in Arizona. Lawrence would like to reunite the family for Christmas.

The "Home for the Holidays" benefit will be held noon-4 p.m. Sunday at Carroll Hills School. The event features a cookout with hamburgers and hot dogs with all the fixings. There will also be a raffle auction and a live auction, starting at 2 p.m.
