To the Editor:

We would like to set the record straight to all the people complaining about our family being bought out in the Malwayne Acres Mitigating project.

I am the one who started the petition and went door to door to get your signatures. I also made up all the flyers and took them door to door to get all of you to go to the township meeting of which we had a great turnout. I also contacted the Carroll County Commissioners, senators, congressman and governor.

Just what did all of you do until you saw I was getting action? No one came to me to ask if I needed help with all of this. Everyone said I was wasting my time.

Now you have the nerve to complain because we are being bought out. Shame on all of you. I lived there 21 years and still own the property total 24 years.

Our question is why all the complaining about us being bought out? If it wasn't for me all of you would still be living in the flood and not doing a thing about it. Everyone who wants to go will have a chance to accept the offer. FEMA decides who gets to go and in what order. Yelling at the Brown Township Trustees and Vera Gatchell is just wrong and disrespectful to them. They are trying to help all of you and this is what they get in return. Shame on all of you.

For those of you who moved in or bought after the signs went up warning you that you were entering a flood zone, think about whose fault is that? It is not like you weren't warned so why move in where you know it is a flood area?

Maybe all of you should take a good look in the mirror.

We moved because we had to not because we wanted to.
