John Allen Schmachtenberger was flown by helicopter to Aultman Hospital after he was freed by area rescue units from under this J-M Oil Company truck, which he was driving.

OSNABURG TWP. " Two drivers had to be rescued from their vehicles after an accident on U.S. Route 30, just west of Robertsville, occurred on the afternoon of April 12.
According to a report from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Logan Ellyson, an 18-year-old man from Cardington, was transported to Mercy Medical Center by Osnaburg Township emergency medical personnel. He sustained injuries to his legs. His passenger, Lincoln J. Ellyson, 15, also of Cardington, was not transported to a hospital. He received only minor injuries to his mouth and neck.
John Allen Schmachtenberger of East Rochester was life-flighted to Aultman Hospital to be treated for head injuries. He was taken to the landing zone of the helicopter by Bartley Ambulance Service.
Schmachtenberger, who was driving an oil truck for J-M Oil Company of Minerva, was eastbound on U.S. Route 30. The car driven by Ellyson was eastbound when it went left of center and struck the oil truck head on. After the impact, Schmachtenberger drove off the right of the road and continued back across the highway and off the left side where he struck a ditch and overturned.
The Robertsville Fire Department was called to the scene, and Chief Eddie Bennett said he was assisted by Osnaburg Township and Minerva fire departments, as well as Bartley Ambulance Service.
Minerva rescue workers had to free Schmachtenberger from under his vehicle. Osnaburg Township rescue workers used extrication equipment to free Ellyson and his 15-year-old brother, a passenger, from their car.
Seat belts were in use by the two occupants of car, but Schmachtenber was not wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol was not a factor. The crash remains under investigation.
Bennett, who coordinated the rescue work, said he was grateful for the assistance received from the other departments.
