Betty Jo Rhome Dobbins, age 71, of Minerva, was born March 28, 1937, daughter of Franklin Joshua Isaac Rhome and Mary Elizabeth Morris, at Greene County, Pa.

At a very young age she, with her family, moved to Stark County, where she spent the rest of her life living in several different places. She received her education attending Mt. Pleasant School and graduating from Minerva High School in 1955. Betty Jo met William Dobbins, her future husband, and they were married on Sept. 12, 1970. Their home was blessed with two sons, William and Matthew. She dedicated her life to lovingly taking care of family members, her own son and others. She quietly passed away after a valiant fight with cancer on April 18, 2008, in the Canterbury Villa in Alliance.

Survivors include a son, Matthew (Kelli) Dobbins, of Waynesburg; two sisters, Violet (Andy) Ohman, of Rootstown, Claire Willis, of Hanoverton; one brother, Frank Rhome, Jr., of Minerva; four grandchildren, Michael and Baylee Paulson Hunter and Sean Dobbins; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Dobbins, who died in 1998, an infant son, William H. Dobbins, a sister, Emma Marshall, and two brothers, Delbert and Ralph Rhome.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 22, in the Church of God in Christ Mennonite Church, in Homeworth, with Roy Kohen officiating. Burial was in the Church of God in Christ Mennonite Cemetery.

The family wishes to express its sincere heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated staff of Canterbury Villa in Alliance for their loving care.
