Carroll Hills bowlers bring home nine gold medals

Carroll Hills Special Olympics had 22 bowlers travel to Zanesville, where they participated in the Area 9 Individual Bowling Tournament at Sunrise Lanes.

Bringing home gold medals were Jim Craft, John Evans, Gene Fankhauser, Kim Hilliard, Stephanie Long and Aaron Scott.

Silver medals were awarded to Sandy Miller and John Riley.

Receiving bronze medals were Chris Crater, Amy Crown, Sandy Dittmer and Deb Granger.

Placing fourth were Bill Bryan, Shirley Clark, Stephen Gatts, Jeremy Glekler, Brittany Griffith, Paschol Miles and Amy Jo Pennock.

Fifths went to Tonja Hart-line, Frank Hudson and Ashley Schlichting.

Twenty-five bowlers competed in a tournament at Dover.

Gold medals were awarded to Matt Crough, Frank Dickey and Robert Fell.

Receiving silver medals were Sarah Hines, Leslie Pearson, Rita Schumacher, Sean Shawler, Logan Smith, Alex Stasiak and Charlie Weir.

Bronze medals went to Todd Kuhn, Jenny Moore, Denise Rodgers, Kathy Sickles and Dan Troyer.

Finishing fourth were Arthur Fischer, Eric Prowe, Randy Rodgers, Gail Schram and Amy See.

Placing fifth were Sam Monk and Jeff Samborsky.

On April 4 and April 11, Carroll Hills hosted its own bowling tournament at Carroll Lanes. Athletes from Carroll Hills a.m. bowlers, Carroll Hills p.m. bowlers and Harrison County joined in the competition.

In the female division, Carroll Hills had six first-place winners, led by Shirley Clark with a 213 and Brittany Griffith with a 192.

In the male division, Carroll Hills had 11 first-place winners. Gene Fankhauser had the high score with a 288, followed by John Riley with a 275 and John Evans with a 257.

Female-division placers included:

First place - Shirley Clark, Brittany Griffith, Sarah Hines, Gail Schram, Nina Fair and Robin Bloom.

Second place - Deb Granger, Stephanie Long, Kim Hilliard, Amy See, Tonja Hartline, Leslie Pearson, Karen Smith, Tara Lab, Cheryl Rodgers and Alysia Hill.

Third place - Jenny Santucci, Sandy Miller, Amy Jo Pennock, Ashley Schlichting, Kathy Sickles, Martha Hogan, Diane Daughtery and Rita Schumacher.

Fourth place - Shirley Lewis, Denise Rodgers, Amy Crown and Sandy Dittmer.

Male-division placers included:

First place - Gene Fankhauser, John Riley, John Evans, Bill Bryan, Frank Dickey, Bill Murphy, Charles Bowditch, Duane Griffin, Dan Troyer, Stephen Gatts, Fred Warren, Dan Little, Clay Richards and Alex Stasiak.

Second place - Jim Craft, Arthur Fischer, Matt Crough, Charlie Weir, Randy Rodgers, Eric Prowe, Logan Smith, Aaron Scott, Sam Monk, Brandon Hahn, Allen Miller and Michael Martin.

Third place - Todd Kuhn, Jeff Samborsky, Frank Hudson, Jeremy Glekler, Chris Crater, Robert Fell, Paschol Miles, Dustin Starkey and Shawn Evans.

Fourth place - Shane Smith.
