"Each day as I listen to the daily news and read the newspaper and see all the stories about the increasing price of gas and other travel expenses, it brings to mind the fact that this year we people in Minerva and surrounding areas have a choice as to how we spend any free time we may have over the July 4th holiday weekend," says Marilyn Tarbet.

The village of Minerva is planning a 175th birthday party together with the 4th of July celebration. There are exciting things being planned for the weekend of July 4, 5 and 6.

July 4 is typically hot and sunny, so what better to do than to go to Municipal Park in the village of Minerva and have a picnic. A picnic in the park is planned for the 4th of July. There will be a craft and art show in the Community Building, games for the kids, inflatable toys, the pool will be open, food vendors and Jerry Mills, Normandy Inn, will be cooking ribs. Bring your own food or buy from the vendors, but come to the park and enjoy yourself. There will be different kinds of music and recognition of some of Minerva's oldest families, as well as a birthday cake and ice cream.

Come one, come all, bring all your family to Minerva for some old time 4th of July celebration. The entire weekend is full of fun and entertainment. Do not forget and mark your calendar for Minerva's 175th Birthday celebration and 4th of July picnic in the park.
