Columbiana County's session at 4-H Camp Whitewood will be held June 8 through 13. The cost is $175. The 4-H Camp Whitewood residential-camping program features a five-day session to highlight summer. Junior camp session are open to all campers, 4-H and non-4-H members, age eight to 14. The last day to register for camp is May 30. All campers will have equal opportunity to participate in both traditional and feature day and evening programs conducted throughout the summer, including arts and crafts, environmental education, swimming, watercraft, shooting sports and outdoor living skills. Evening programs may include: dancing, fishing, night hikes, campfire, carnivals, tie dye, talent show, feature crafts, camp songs, games, feature guest, and much more. The camp programs are staffed by adults trained to work with youth. Swimming and watercraft are enjoyed on a nine-acre lake. A variety of crafts is available for the creative at heart. Equipment for shooting sports (archery and riflery) is used in a designated safety range under direction of a trained instructor. Recreational field and pavilion are sites used for day and evening activities. The camp's historical Indian mounds make the entrance to the campfire circle at the old Erie Indian village. The gorge, cutting through part of the camp, allows adventuresome hiking and creature catching in the stream below. Campers enjoy the family-style meals in the centrally located dining hall.
