HARCATUS Tri-County Community Action Agency is offering free tax clinics through the Ohio Benefit Bank for residents with a household income under $57,000. The clinic schedule is as follows: Feb. 13, Cadiz Puskarich Library; Feb. 20, New Philadelphia Library; March 13, Uhrichsville Claymont Library; and March 20, Carroll County Library in Carrollton. All of the clinics will be held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Those interested may go to the libraries listed to schedule an appointment or call 330-343-8770 and ask for an OBB representative. Residents may also call to determine eligibility. The HARCATUS Tri-County Community Action Agency and the Ohio Benefit Bank are in need of volunteers to help by learning and serving. These organizations are partnering to train volunteers to serve as counselors at tax clinics. Volunteers need to have only basic computer skills. They will attend a five-hour training session to learn the OBB software. Volunteers do not need to know the tax codes, filing status or how to prepare tax applications, the expertise is in the software. The next training session will be Monday, Feb. 8, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Kent State Tuscarawas Campus. Anyone interested in becoming a trained tax-clinic volunteer, please contact Erica Salisbury at 330-343-8770, ext. 216. Comments
